How to create your first vault
A vault is Kition’s unit of work. It is just a folder on your machine — no proprietary format, leave anytime.
What a vault actually is
A vault is a local directory you pick. All documents (.md), attachments, tables (.kitable), hooks config (.kition/hooks.json), and agent transcripts live inside it. Switching machines? Copy the folder.
A recommended structure
Inbox/— drafts and unsorted thoughtsNotes/— long-term notes, subfolders by topicTables/— your data tables land hereTemplates/— templates callable from the command paletteResources/— PDFs, images, attachments
Working with multiple vaults
Work and personal can be two separate vaults: the work vault talks to your company’s MCP servers; the personal one is for journaling and reading notes. Switch from the top bar.
