Create from the workspace
The app-level Cmd/Ctrl + K palette in Kition 0.1.41 does not contain a New table command. Typing /table in a Markdown document also does not create a Kitable.
- Open the workspace Create menu and choose Table
- In Template Center, choose New table workspace for a blank starting point or select a built-in template
- The new
.kitableitem is created in the folder targeted by the Create menu - Open the generated table and rename the workspace, table, fields, or views as needed
Blank table defaults
A blank table workspace starts with one table named Table, one Grid view, and three empty records. Its initial fields are:
- Title — primary
textfield - Status —
single_selectwith Not started, In progress, and Done - Notes —
long_textfield
Tip
These defaults are a starting schema, not a required project structure. Edit field names and types or add and remove non-primary fields after creation.
A Kitable can hold more than one table
A .kitable workspace entry can contain multiple tables and may also expose related dashboards or workflows. Use the Kitable sidebar or its Create menu to add another table inside the same workspace.
Do not assume that every table maps to a separate file or that copying the visible .kitable marker alone is a documented database backup format. Follow the workspace backup guidance for the complete workspace.
Import instead of starting blank
Choose Import spreadsheet from the workspace Create menu to create a new Kitable from a CSV, TSV, or supported XLSX file. Import has its own preview, type review, and runtime requirements.
