PDF requires Desktop
PDF export is not available in a web preview. The Desktop app renders a hidden Electron window and calls Chromium printToPDF.
Choose a scale from 10 through 100 percent. If export fails, return to the default scale, use a standard page size, and retry after restarting Kition.
Isolate media and rendering failures
The PDF path attempts to inline local and remote images before printing. Inaccessible or unresolved media can fail, and the image-loading wait is bounded to 20 seconds.
- Retry a copy of the document without remote images
- Verify local image files still exist and are readable from the workspace
- Simplify or temporarily remove large Mermaid, math, table, and media sections
- Export HTML to inspect whether the document renders before PDF printing
DOCX has a narrower conversion boundary
DOCX is generated in the client with the bundled docx library. The current builder covers headings, paragraphs, lists, quotes, code, tables, and horizontal rules.
Although the export API accepts an Include media option, the 0.1.41 DOCX builder does not add document images. Do not use DOCX export as a media-preserving round trip; keep the Markdown source and media directory as the editable original.
Distinguish cancellation from failure
Closing or canceling the operating-system save dialog is not an export error. For a real failure, retry with a short text-only document, record the selected format and options, and copy Support diagnostics from Settings → About.
