Data tables
Link documents and tables
Store a workspace Markdown path in `document_link`, link back to the Kitable with an ordinary wikilink, and understand the missing automatic sync guarantees.

Use a document link field
A document_link value is a workspace document path such as Projects/Launch v2.md. When Kition has an open-document handler, the rendered cell opens that path in the workspace.
This differs from link_to_record, which stores references to records in a configured target table. A document link is not a table relation and does not carry a row ID.
Use an ordinary wikilink in the document
A Markdown document can link to a .kitable workspace item with ordinary wikilink syntax. Open the link to inspect the Kitable and choose the relevant table or view.
Kition 0.1.41 does not support the old live table-view embed, row-link, or query-string syntax inside Markdown.

Structured project data: [[Projects.kitable]]Table links do not create Markdown backlinks
The document Backlinks panel scans up to 500 Markdown files for explicit [[...]] wikilinks. It does not scan Kitable records or synthesize backlinks from document_link field values.
If a document should show an incoming relationship in the Backlinks panel, add an explicit wikilink from another Markdown document. A table-only reference will not appear there.
Paths require maintenance
Kition 0.1.41 does not guarantee that a document_link value follows a document rename or move, and it does not document a delete prompt that repairs every affected table record. After changing a Markdown path, open representative linked cells and update stale values.
Likewise, rename or move a .kitable item only after checking Markdown wikilinks that point to it. Treat document and table links as navigational references, not a bidirectional synchronization transaction.
A practical pattern
- Keep structured status, dates, ratings, and ownership in a table
- Keep long-form notes in Markdown documents
- Store each note path in a
document_linkfield when table-to-document navigation is useful - Add a normal wikilink in the Markdown document when document-to-Kitable navigation is also useful
- Verify both directions after renames, moves, imports, or restores

Document embeds and table-embed status
Kition 0.1.41 can transclude Markdown documents, headings, and blocks, but it does not render `.kitable` views through the old query syntax.
