Wikilinks or backlinks are missing

Check Kition’s live wikilink resolution order, reload its cache, and distinguish backlinks from the bounded Broken Links scan.

Check the target

The live resolver tries an explicit or root path, then a path relative to the source document, then a sibling, then a unique basename match. Ambiguous basenames are safer when rewritten as explicit paths.

  • Use a workspace-root or explicit path when two documents share the same name
  • From a source document, try the target as a source-relative path
  • For a sibling document, its sibling path or basename can resolve
  • The .md and .kitable extensions can be omitted

Reload after file changes

Reload the workspace after files are created, moved, renamed, or synchronized from another device. A workspace reload invalidates the wikilink resolver cache.

Kition 0.1.41 does not automatically rewrite incoming wikilinks when a target is renamed. Update old links at their source.

Backlinks and Broken Links use separate scans

The Backlinks panel scans explicit [[...]] references in at most 500 Markdown files. It does not infer backlinks from table document_link fields.

Broken Links is available from the document command palette and scans at most 600 Markdown files. Its scanner is less complete than the live resolver for some relative paths, so it can report a false positive even when clicking the link resolves correctly.

Tip

Treat the live click result as the primary resolution check. If Broken Links disagrees, rewrite the target with an explicit workspace path and reload before reporting a defect.
