Exact field type identifiers

The field editor presents friendly labels such as Single line text, Multiple select, Document link, and Link to record. The identifiers above are the schema types used by the 0.1.41 client.

text
text, long_text, number, date, datetime, single_select,
multi_select, checkbox, url, attachment, document_link, formula,
rating, user, link_to_record, lookup, rollup, button, created_time,
last_modified_time, created_by, last_modified_by, auto_number

Editable value fields

  • text and long_text — short or multi-line text; long text can be displayed as text or Markdown
  • number, rating, and checkbox — numeric, scored, and Boolean values
  • date and datetime — calendar date or date-and-time values with display-format options
  • single_select and multi_select — one or several configured choices
  • url — an external web address
  • attachment — files and images
  • document_link — a workspace document path
  • user — one or more user references when supported by the backing runtime

Relational, computed, action, and system fields

  • link_to_record — references records in a target table
  • lookup and rollup — derive values through a configured record link
  • formula — evaluates an expression and is saved as read-only in the field editor
  • button — exposes a configured action such as opening a URL or running a workflow
  • auto_number — runtime-maintained sequence value
  • created_time, last_modified_time, created_by, and last_modified_by — runtime-maintained audit values

AI is configuration, not a field type

Kition does not define an ai_field type. AI configuration can be attached to text, long_text, or attachment fields. The underlying field still stores text or attachments and can be used without changing to a separate schema type.

There are also no separate rich_text, email, or phone field types in the table schema. Store those values in long_text or text unless another supported type fits the workflow.

Review type changes

Changing a field type updates the schema used by the table. Kition 0.1.41 does not make the old guarantee that every failed conversion is preserved as a flagged string. Inspect representative records before and after a type change, especially for dates, numbers, selects, relations, formulas, and system fields.
