Create from the Template Center

Choose the new-document action from the workspace create menu. The Template Center offers a blank document, built-in work/planning/personal templates, and workspace templates discovered under Templates/.

Selecting a template creates a new Markdown document with rendered placeholders. You can edit the resulting content like any other .md file.

Add a workspace template

  • Create a Templates/ folder at the workspace root
  • Add one or more .md files beneath that folder
  • The template filename becomes its display name
  • Reopen the Template Center or document template picker to refresh the list

Note

The template directory is fixed to Templates/ in 0.1.41. The public Settings navigation does not expose an Editor setting for choosing another template folder.

Verified placeholders

The public template loader does not implement the older documented date arithmetic, arbitrary date formats, username, clipboard, or user-defined variable language.

  • {{title}} — the new or current document title
  • {{date}} — local date formatted as YYYY-MM-DD
  • {{time}} — local time formatted as HH:mm
  • {{cursor}} — cursor position when inserting a workspace template into an open document
markdown
# {{title}}

Created: {{date}} at {{time}}

{{cursor}}

Insert a template into the current document

Open the document command palette with Cmd/Ctrl + P, choose Insert template, and select a Markdown file from Templates/. Its rendered content replaces the current selection or inserts at the cursor.

Template insertion changes the current editor buffer. Review the result before closing or overwriting existing content.
